Robert Howard Gamble (1815-1887) carved out a place for himself amidst the gardens and community life surrounding St. John's Episcopal Church Cemetery, tending to both the land and the friendships that sustained it. He embraced the customs of his neighborhood, attending to the spiritual and practical needs of the families who found comfort in those shared rhythms.
