Biography

Robert McKee Bashford brought his legal skill to bear on the governance of Wisconsin, serving first in the state legislature and then as mayor of Madison, where he balanced progress with fiscal responsibility before ascending to the bench of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

On the high court he guided opinions with a commitment to fairness and the public good, returning home only to be remembered as a mentor to younger lawyers and a steady civic leader who rests now at Forest Hill Cemetery.
