Robert Parry Nisbet

Biography

Robert Parry Nisbet (1793–1882) applied his gifts to the sphere of politics with a calm determination to do justly and to serve the people of Devizes. He was known for listening patiently, seeking compromise, and remembering the small courtesies that build strong communities.

At the Church of St James he upheld the dignity of worship, giving generously of his time and means to preserve the beauty of the house of God and to encourage the little societies that kept neighboring families close.
