Biography
Robert Potter (1721–1804) was a poet and translator whose English renderings of Greek tragedy brought Aeschylus and other dramatists to new audiences, and he continued to publish odes and sacred verse that reflected his classical learning.
At Lowestoft he also served as a parish clergyman, encouraging the study of literature among the young and offering steady pastoral care to seafarers and their families before his passing.
