Roberta Martin was a pioneering gospel singer, pianist, and composer whose elegant arrangements and leadership of the Roberta Martin Singers helped shape the sound of urban gospel in the mid-20th century.
She nurtured countless young artists and left a legacy of hymns and performances still cherished by choirs across the country, and her life is remembered at Burr Oak Cemetery.
