Roger Jones was born during the American Revolution and lived through the formative decades of the United States. His long life of sixty-three years allowed him to witness the establishment and growth of federal institutions in Washington, D.C.
Jones was an integral part of the early Washington community, establishing himself during a time when the capital was still developing its character and influence. He was laid to rest in Congressional Cemetery, a final resting place for many who helped shape the nation's early history.
