Biography

Romuald Giedroyć (1750–1824) was a Polish figure whose life extended across the transformative decades of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. His seventy-four years encompassed the intellectual ferment of the Enlightenment, the upheaval of the Napoleonic Wars, and the subsequent reorganization of European political structures that followed Napoleon's defeat.

Giedroyć's burial at Powązki Cemetery reflects his prominence or respect within Warsaw society and Polish intellectual circles. His long life provides a bridge between the old order of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the new political realities of the nineteenth century, making him a representative figure of his transitional era.
