Rosa Lewis, known as the Queen of Cooks, presided over her celebrated restaurant, which drew guests from across society, including royalty and statesmen, who came to savor her decisive flavours and impeccable hospitality. She built an enduring reputation for theatrical service and personality that became as famous as the dishes she served.

Her colourful life story—one of grit, wit and culinary creativity—was reflected in the tales told about her for generations; she was laid to rest at Putney Vale Cemetery, where her spirited legacy is still cherished.
