Biography
Rudolf Macko (1892–1917) was a military officer whose service came during the First World War, one of history's most devastating conflicts. Born in 1892, he came of age during a period of rising international tensions and served his nation during the war that reshaped Europe.
Macko's military career was cut short by his death in 1917, during the final year of the Great War. He was buried at San Stino di Livenza, a location in northeastern Italy near the front lines where much of the conflict's intensity was felt. His sacrifice represents that of countless military personnel of his generation.
