Rufus Bullock

Biography

Rufus Bullock (1834–1907) served as governor of Georgia during the turbulent Reconstruction era, championing public education, honest government, and improvements to infrastructure while striving to protect the rights of every citizen.

Though fierce opposition eventually drove him from office, he remained committed to reform and reconciliation, and Mount Albion Cemetery now preserves the memory of his courage in difficult times.
