Biography
Ruppert L. Sargent answered the call to serve during the Vietnam War with bravery that exemplified leadership under fire. As a second lieutenant, he repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire to direct the evacuation of wounded Marines and neutralize threats to his platoon.
His ultimate sacrifice came in 1967 when he gave his life to save others, earning the Medal of Honor posthumously and leaving a legacy of selflessness honored by Hampton National Cemetery and his fellow service members.
