Ruth Plumly Thompson (1891–1976) delighted generations of readers with her imaginative continuation of the Land of Oz stories, weaving whimsical adventures and new characters that kept L. Frank Baum's world sparkling for young readers. Her lively prose and ability to blend humor with gentle lessons made her a beloved storyteller.
She spent her life cherishing the joy of reading and encouraging creativity in others, and she is laid to rest at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, where admirers continue to follow the yellow brick road she helped to extend.
