Sally Williams Sage, born in 1796, became a devoted presence in early Ithaca, tending to the household and farmland that sustained generations of neighbors. Her steady hand helped shape the rhythms of the village as the community grew around the waters of Cayuga Inlet.

She welcomed travelers, fostered the education of children, and shared whatever bounty her table afforded, leaving a legacy of warmth and quiet leadership long after her passing in 1872.
