Biography

Salmon Root lived during the formative years of the American republic, his life spanning from 1780 to 1849. He was part of the generation that helped establish communities in rural New England, contributing to the development of Craftsbury and its surrounding areas.

Root's life and legacy are preserved in Craftsbury Common Cemetery, where he rests among his community members. His sixty-nine years witnessed significant growth and change in the young nation.
