Sampson Mordan (1790–1843) was an inventor and manufacturer best known for pioneering the production of the silver mechanical pencil, blending elegance with practicality. His firm, Mordan & Co., became synonymous with innovative stationery that met the needs of writers, artists, and professionals across the growing British Empire.

Mordan’s dedication to quality craftsmanship earned his business a respected reputation, and after his passing he was laid to rest at Highgate Cemetery, leaving behind both an enduring trade and a legacy of utility with grace.
