Biography
Justice Samuel Blatchford served nearly a decade on the U.S. Supreme Court, offering thoughtful opinions on admiralty law, civil rights, and the balance of federal and state power.
Prior to the bench he was a respected federal judge and legal scholar whose lifelong dedication to the rule of law is commemorated at Green-Wood Cemetery.
