Samuel George Willard

Biography

Born in 1819, Samuel George Willard became known in Linwood for his steady encouragement of young people, guiding them toward honest labor and thankful stewardship of the woods and fields around them.

He offered a calm, compassionate presence in both household and public life, and when illness claimed him in 1887 the town remembered him with affection as he was laid to rest in Linwood Cemetery.
