Biography

Samuel Greg founded Quarry Bank Mill near Manchester, marrying advanced textile machinery with a genuine desire to improve the conditions of his workers and set an example for other manufacturers.

He invested in a school, housing, and a chapel for the mill community, imbuing the new industrial age with a sense of responsibility that endures in the memories kept at St Bartholomew's Church, Wilmslow.
