Samuel Hirszenberg

Biography

Samuel Hirszenberg, born in 1865, was a painter whose canvases captured the hopes and struggles of Eastern European Jews; works such as "The Wandering Jew" brought their stories into light. He trained in Warsaw and later in Paris, always holding onto the memories of his people.

He passed away in 1908, and though he never lived to see the state he imagined, his art endures as a reminder of perseverance; his final resting place on the Mount of Olives honors a creative spirit that reached far beyond borders.
