Samuel Penfield Taylor

Biography

Samuel Penfield Taylor (1827–1886) built a reputation as a shrewd businessman and landowner, guiding enterprises that sustained families and trade in his region. His eye for opportunity and deep affection for the natural world inspired others to steward their surroundings with care.

Today he is commemorated through the Samuel P. Taylor State Park, a place where visitors pause to admire the scenery that was so meaningful to him.
