Biography

Sarah Tappan Stoddard was born in 1771 and lived through the transformative era of American independence. She was a member of the Tappan family, a lineage of significance in the region, and contributed to the welfare of her household and community.

Stoddard's eighty-one years connected the colonial period with the nineteenth century. She was interred in Bridge Street Cemetery, where she rests with her family and neighbors.
