Sarah Weddington

Biography

Sarah Weddington gained national attention when, as a young lawyer, she argued Roe v. Wade before the U.S. Supreme Court and later served in the Texas Legislature, bringing a clear voice for women’s rights to state policy debates.

She continued her public service in the Carter administration and on the faculty at the University of Texas at Austin, where she taught generations of students about constitutional law and civic engagement.
