Biography
Seneca G. Simmons was born in 1808 and lived during the antebellum period of American history. He witnessed the nation's westward expansion and the growing sectional tensions that would ultimately lead to civil war.
Simmons passed away in 1862 during the Civil War and was interred at Richmond National Cemetery. His life spanned more than half a century of American development and conflict.
