Biography

Sigmund Neuberger, the celebrated illusionist known as The Great Lafayette, brought wonder to late-Victorian stages with elaborate spectacles, daring escapes, and a warm rapport with audiences who flocked to see him.

His final performance in 1911 ended in tragedy, yet his imaginative contributions to the art of magic and his generosity toward fellow entertainers live on, and he rests in Piershill Cemetery among those who admired his craft.
