Silas Garber

Biography

Silas Garber, born in 1833, cast his lot with the people of what would become Nebraska and rose to serve as governor, guiding the young state through early challenges with a farmer's steadiness and a public servant's humility.

He celebrated the fertile prairie, championed its families, and left a legacy of thoughtful leadership that is recalled with gratitude by those who visit Red Cloud Cemetery.
