Biography

Silas Halsey (1743–1832) witnessed the rise of the United States from its earliest stirrings and lived a life anchored in family and community. Those who knew him recall a man of deliberate thought and measured kindness, who valued the words of his forebears while helping to nurture the brave experiment in self-governance taking shape around him.

He was laid to rest in Old Halsey Cemetery, where the generations who followed continue to honor the quiet example he set.
