Biography
Simeon Mills, born 1810, was among the earliest settlers in the region, opening one of the first mills and serving as a trustee and postmaster as the town grew into a city. He invested in schools, roads, and the institutions that would allow the community to flourish long after his generation.
When he died in 1895 he was buried at Crown Hill Cemetery, remembered for the practical generosity that shaped the civic life of Madison's earliest years.
