Simon Benson (1851-1942) rose from humble beginnings to become a timber magnate, building an enterprise that provided livelihoods while maintaining a deep commitment to stewardship of the Pacific Northwest.
His civic gifts, from public drinking fountains to generous support for education, continue to nourish the city he cherished, and he is honored at River View Cemetery.
