Simon Gratz

Biography

Simon Gratz, born in 1840, devoted much of his life to the progress of Philadelphia, showing particular care for education and civic institutions that shaped the city’s future.

He left behind a legacy of steadfast support for the public good, and he is memorialized in Laurel Hill Cemetery where his contributions are remembered.
