Sir Henry Craik, 1st Baronet, born in 1846, rose through the civil service into Parliament, bringing careful thought to debates about Scottish education and administration.

He held himself to the highest standards of public duty, and when he died in 1927 his remains were laid to rest at Highgate Cemetery among many statesmen.
