Biography
Smedley Darlington represented his district in the U.S. House of Representatives during a time when the nation's industrial momentum was reshaping communities. He brought a thoughtful voice to debates on transportation, agriculture, and commerce, always mindful of how decisions in Washington would reach the fields and towns of Pennsylvania.
After leaving Congress he continued to encourage civic engagement and is remembered for his attentive leadership, his family paying tribute to him each year at Oaklands Cemetery.
