Biography

Smith Burr, born in 1803, was a fixture of the Commack community, offering a reliable hand on the farm and a curious mind at the town meetings that guided local decisions.

Through seasons of plenty and challenge he shared the quiet hope that anchored neighbors, and when he died in 1887 they remembered his steady tempering of progress with kindness; his final resting place lies in Commack Cemetery.
