Biography
Sofia Schliemann (1852–1932) was a pioneering archaeologist and cultural preservationist who made significant contributions to the study of ancient Greek civilization. As the wife of renowned archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann, she not only supported his excavations but became an accomplished scholar in her own right, actively participating in archaeological work and helping to document important findings from Greek sites.
Throughout her life, Sofia demonstrated a deep commitment to preserving Greece's archaeological heritage and advancing the field of classical studies. Her work bridged the nineteenth and twentieth centuries during a transformative period in archaeology, and she remained a respected figure in academic circles until her death in Athens in 1932.
