Biography

Sophie Stepanovna Chtcherbatova was a lady-in-waiting whose service at court reflected the aristocratic traditions and social structures of 19th-century Russia. Born in 1797, she spent her life in proximity to power and nobility, fulfilling the duties and expectations of her elevated position.

Chtcherbatova's long life extended until 1885, spanning nearly nine decades of service and social prominence. She was laid to rest at the Cemetery in Donskoy Monastery, where she is remembered as a woman of refinement and dignity who navigated the complex world of imperial court life with grace.
