Biography
Stanisław Józef Gierka was a Polish military officer and official born in 1898 who served his country during a critical period of its history. He was part of the professional military establishment that worked to strengthen Poland's defense capabilities in the years following World War I.
Gierka's life was ended in 1940 at Katyn, where he fell victim to one of World War II's most significant tragedies. He is honored at the Katyn Polish War Cemetery, where his name stands among those who gave their lives in service to Poland.
