Biography
Stasys Šimkus composed songs and choral works that wove modern idioms with Lithuanian folk rhythms, becoming a leading voice in the schools and conservatories of Kaunas.
Through war and occupation his music sustained choirs and parishes, leaving melodies still sung by those who gather near Petrašiūnai Cemetery.
