Biography

Stepan Rudnytsky (1877–1937) was a Ukrainian geographer whose scholarly work contributed to geographical and ethnographic understanding of Eastern Europe. His academic career reflected the intellectual traditions of late Imperial and early Soviet academia.

Rudnytsky was executed at Sandarmokh in 1937 during the Great Purge, which systematically targeted intellectuals and scholars. His death represented a loss to the geographical sciences and Ukrainian scholarly traditions.
