Biography

Stephen Wallace Dorsey served the nation as a Union officer during the Civil War and later represented Arkansas in the United States Senate, where he sought to heal wartime divisions by promoting expansion and modernization. The challenges of Reconstruction informed his commitment to national unity and responsible enterprise.

In his later years he made his home among Colorado friends, sharing the lessons of his public life and supporting local civic causes before being laid to rest at Fairmount Cemetery.
