Biography
Stew Bowers, born in 1915, devoted himself to the game of baseball through the 1940s, bringing steady leadership and competitive spirit to every team he joined. His appreciation for the camaraderie of sport helped sustain teammates through the challenges of wartime and the demands of traveling the country.
Later in life he returned to New Freedom, where he remained a familiar and encouraging presence for young athletes, sharing stories of resilience and perseverance. His warmth and steady character made him a treasured figure in the community near New Freedom Cemetery.
