Biography
Stuart Cary Welch devoted his life to the study and preservation of Indian, Persian, and Islamic art, building collections and crafting scholarship that introduced generations to masterpieces rarely seen outside of Asia.
He was a generous mentor and curator whose keen eye and impeccable standards inspired museum professionals and students alike, and he continued to share stories of the objects he loved with humility and warmth throughout a long and illustrious career.
