Biography

Born in 1827, Susanna Dillwyn Parrish came of age as her nation navigated the tensions and transformations of the mid-19th century, and those who knew her recall her as a quiet anchor of stability in a time of upheaval, generous with hospitality and steady in her care for kin and neighbors.

In her later years she watched the dawn of a new century from the same region, offering counsel to younger generations and a calm presence, and when she passed in 1915 she was laid to rest in Fair Hill Burial Ground where family could visit and remember her constant affection.
