Biography

Suzannah Ibsen, herself a writer, provided steadfast support to the literary giants of her era while nurturing a rich inner life of letters and culture. Her thoughtful correspondence and diaries reveal a keen intellect, and she helped sustain the salons and friendships that underpinned Norway’s literary awakening.

In private she was a devoted partner to Henrik Ibsen, offering both encouragement and critical insight, and after his passing she safeguarded his papers and reputation with dignity. She now rests alongside the many artists she championed at Vår Frelsers gravlund.
