Biography

Takeo Arishima (1878–1923) was a celebrated Japanese writer and intellectual who made significant contributions to modern Japanese literature. His works explored themes of social consciousness and personal introspection, reflecting the literary movements of the early twentieth century.

Arishima's literary career was marked by his engagement with contemporary social issues and his innovative narrative techniques. Though his life was cut short, his influence on Japanese letters remained substantial, and he is remembered as an important figure in the development of modern Japanese fiction. He was interred at Tama Cemetery.
