Biography

Tani Bun'ichi (1786–1818) was a young painter of the Edo period whose artistic promise was cut short by his early death at thirty-two. Despite his brief career, he contributed to the vibrant artistic traditions of his time and was affiliated with Genkū-ji Temple.

Bun'ichi's legacy, though modest in duration, represents the dedication of Edo period artists to their craft and spiritual practice, with his memory honored at Genkū-ji Temple.
