Biography
Tatton Sykes (1826-1913) guided the Sledmere estate through a time of change, bringing a thoughtful hand to landscape and house alike so that the families who lived there could share in the pride of its long history.
He regarded the Church of St Mary, Sledmere as a touchstone for the community, endowing repairs to keep its bells calling and encouraging harvest celebrations that united tenants and neighbours.
