Terry Sawchuk was born in 1929 in Winnipeg and rose to prominence as one of hockey's fiercest and most respected goaltenders, winning multiple Vezina Trophies and backstopping teams like the Detroit Red Wings with an intensity that inspired teammates and fans.
Despite carrying the scars of his profession, he remained generous with younger players and became a symbol of heart and resilience, and he is laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery where admirers continue to honor his memory.
