Theodore Henry Broadhead

1767–1820 (age 53)

Biography

Theodore Henry Broadhead entered public service with a thoughtful spirit, representing constituents as a politician while keeping the concerns of Hendon close at heart. He balanced national debates with the personal letters and visits that made citizens feel heard, showing that a statesman could also be a neighbour.

At St Mary’s Church he sat near the front pews, listening carefully to sermons and offering encouragement to younger parishioners considering civic life. When he died in 1820, many admired how he had guided public affairs with a steady hand and a generous temper.
