1767–1818 (age 51)
Biography
Thomas Anson, 1st Viscount Anson (1767–1818) served as Member of Parliament for Lichfield before being raised to the peerage, carrying his respect for constitutional balance into every office he held. He was as much a patron of industry as he was of the arts, supporting initiatives that enriched Staffordshire.
Those living near the Parish Church of St Michael and All Angels, Colwich, still speak of his steady hand in parish affairs and his readiness to answer the needs of neighbours, a quiet but lasting tribute to such careful stewardship.
