Biography

Thomas George Bonney was a geologist whose curiosity about the earth's workings inspired generations of students and readers. Born in 1833, he pursued fieldwork with an artist's eye and translated complex ideas into writing that invited others to study the natural world.

He championed the teaching of geology in schools and supported scholarly societies, believing that science and faith could coexist in the pursuit of truth, a philosophy that sustained him until his passing and is remembered by the many who were influenced by his lectures and publications.
