Biography
General Thomas Henry Barry was a graduate of West Point who commanded troops with a mind toward modernizing the Army. He oversaw operations in the Philippines, served as a respected instructor, and later guided the Army War College as it prepared officers for the complexities of modern war.
Even in retirement, he continued to offer counsel on reforms and to champion military education. He now rests at Green-Wood Cemetery, where visitors honor his legacy of thoughtful leadership in a time of transition.
